Wtf is this "whooping" sound?

There's a weird high-pitched whooping sound that sometimes comes from the right side of my car (like from the door or the seat or something)...

Does anyone know WTF this might be?

How useful...

Normally I'd be able to find out what the sound is coming from, but it's very random, and I can't even start to imagine WTF it is coming from (it's not a mechanical sound of any sort).

You would have to get a sound clip of it before anyone could even begin to tell you what it is, but I will have to go with Golden Marmoset as well. I mean what else could it be?

Break in weather seal and wind rushing in?

Other than that, I truly can't fathom.

Hmm, my outer weather seals ARE hardened and rusted...

That's actually a good theory: it could be vibrating like a woodwind.

It only happens like once a day, if at all. There's no way I could get a clip, and you probably couldn't hear it in the clip anyway.

On our 2005 Honda Odyssey, the AC sometimes makes a noise similar to what you're describing. I have no idea why it does that, but it's really random and catches you by surprise, because at times it sounds like a police car siren being blipped.

No, but obviously that wouldn't make a difference.

I mean seriously, with your description it could be a small mammal stuck in a vent pipe. Record audio in the car while driving and hopefully you'll catch it, then post it on youtube or some such and link us.

Err, no, it's almost certainly wind going through the outer window seals... one time it was way louder than a small mammal, usually it's quieter.

It definitely sounds like it's coming from the door, anyway.

you might check your window seals and the door jam. I think my 323 has whistled like this before and I'm pretty sure it's because the door doesn't seal like it did 20 years ago.

I had this problem once before as well, I checked the outer window seals and they ended up looking fine and sealing perfectly. I took off the interior door panel and there it was.... a golden marmoset.
