WHY ARE THE BELTS SHREDDING ???

For some mysterious reason, my T II keeps eating belts.
I look repeatedly for misalignment or burrs on the pulleys but I haven't seen any. They come off shredded.
I bought a HAYNES for it and tightened it to the specified tension
just put 'em on and no prob so far. But I still have yet to push it some and see what it'll do.

any suggestions would be nice

The problem is more likely than not the pulley

I can eat a set of Autozone's store brand belts with one rev to 8000 rpm's. The cheap belts just shred into cords for me - and it's happened more than once. I think the Autozone store branded belts are Kelley-Springfield. Whatever they are they aren't up to the challenge! You gotta buy good name brand belts for these things - think about how fast those belts are moving at rotary engine speeds.

I bought oem mazda belts from mazdatrix. They are damn expensive, but worth it knowing they wont snap.

I thought that the speed of the engine might have had something to do with it.
Who Knows where there's a sale or something on some good, dependable belts.

Yea cheap belts won't work too well on rotary engines. Do what Wanked FC said and get yourself some nice belts. They will last a while.

Do you have a dual alternator pully?

If not get one (if you removed the AC/PS/Air pump)

Also try leaveing your belts a little bit looser, it sounds like you might be tightening them to much. Or they may also be to loose, so go the other way. You should be able to twist the belt like 90 degree's (I think....)
