WTF did i just buy?

I'm a little confused here

Its supposed to be an 86 sport, but i'm thinking that may be wrong
its definately an 86 model

bth A/C
gxl Power Steering
spr crank windows
bth Sunroof
bth 4 poiston brakes
bth 5 lug
spr rear rubber mini spoiler
spr manual mirrors
spr no tilt steering that i can see
bth 15 inch wheels
gxl rear boxes with locks

so unless i'm just being stupid, something seems off to me
wtf

somehow it doesnt seem like someone would go through the trouble to install P/S in this pos rx7

sport models still had ac and power steering, just options to add to the car.

Sounds like a Sport. A GXL would have the Auto Adjusting Suspension.

I've got a Sport with a sunroof, AC, PS, bins, etc.

If it doesn't have AAS, it is not a GXL.

tilt steering allows the wheel to "TILT" up and down like a new car, only its the entire column. And crank windows are non power units...just a door crank

I agree the best thing to do is a carfax to make sure. I know of people buying RX7'S and they are built from a bunch of scrap cars.

Coo man sounds like a Sport model to me too. I have the same car pretty much without the sunroof.

What color is yours? Post pics!!!

I also have the Aluminum hood... Which types of Rx-7 came with the aluminum hoods? Was it the sport only?

you have a sport
mine is setup about the same way though mine is a 87. remember even though some of those options might not be mazda factory equipment the dealer might of added some equipment on their own or people who have owned the car before you. though most would not go so far as to remove equipment.

as far as the AAS I thought that just being a GXL didn't mean you had it but rather it was an option with the GXL

even with the sport you are not granted a alum hood all the time as my car can show unless it was replaced though that doesn't seem very likely.

O really so yours has a steel hood? So I guess Mazda just did it randomly.

The car is a Sport based on the information you have provided. Congratulations, you have a potential GTUs killer on your hands. I had an '87 Sport at one time that had power steering and a stock sunroof. Aluminum hoods were a random option, generally installed on "weight sensitive models" such as the convertibles.

VIN # has no bearing on model other than coupe, convertible, turbo, NA

And also to clear up some stuff earlier in the thread:

All Sports were 5 lug
Some came with steel hoods, some came with aluminium hoods.

The SE is the base model...they are 4lug and no power options other than PS and AC.....4 lug POS's....but a good startign platform for mods. My SE already got a lug upgrade and depowered rack, just things to consider, but a sport model is nice
