wtb rx7 need some info
Hi, im currently looking at an 88 rx7 se(i think). I know next to nuthing about these cars accept that they got that crazy rotary moter. the guy is asking 1,800 for it. from what i can see it has rust in one wheel well and a couple of other places.(not terrible) i probrably have 3k to spend and am thinking that depending on how it runs i might try n talk him down and just have the body work done and get it painted. car has 144k miles and is an auto. i just need to know what the general problems are with the car and what i should look for. my old car was a 90 tbird supercoupe(3.8L supercharged v6) car had 210 hp and 315 touque@2800rpm. how will this car match up againts the tbird. i loved driving that car and i hope to find another car i can love. if i need to i can put a turbo in it if its cheep to grab a stock one. thanx for reading this novel and any help that can be givin will be greatly appriciated thanx

As far as a match against the TBird, this will be a totally new experience. The NA rx7 lacks the power of the SC TBird yet out handles it in everyway. The only thing I would have a problem with is the automatic tranny and the NA engine. NAs without EXTENSIVE modding can be quick at best, add in an automatic transmission and you have a pretty weak performer when it comes to power. If power is what your after, your 3k would afford a pretty nice Turbo II RX7 which I believe youd be MORE than satisfied with. Either one, NA or Turbo, Handling you WILL NOT be disappointed with, as the rx7 has an almost perfect 50/50 wieght distribution. Whatever you decide, good luck. If you decide to go the rotary route, WELCOME...stay a while!

SOme of my friends want a super or a turbocoupe. well anyways i have an 87 n/a and its kinda quick. You will definately notice the lack of torque that the n/a has compared to the T-Bird. If i were you i would try to find a turbo because now I wish i had one. But the n/a is nice, I'm not a big cornering guy but RX-7s really let you feel the road on turns and stuff.
cool for tell your friends to goto www.sccoa.com its basically like this site but for that car and theres alotta great people there who are a great help.
