I raced a WRX in my 88base--->S5 T2 conversion. I had full 2.5 inch crush bent exhaust and 2.5" TID with a K&N. I raced one from 100 km/h to 200km/h and it was dead even, my car boosting 8-9psi.

And if the WRX was a 2-door then you could put as much stuff in it.

Im most likely definately going to be going 3" before i beat him, Selling off my midpipe will probably give me all but 20 bux to get a new one. I will also be running (even though some dont make a difference) with no PS, no emissions (4 vac lines on entire engine), ported wastegate (even though it doesnt add power), and an ACT heavy duty pressure plate.

I havent had much experience with launching as if someone peels out in Northern va its incredibly hot, and i have never launched on a viscous LSD. Previous owner ran a 13.8x on a 90º day in 95% humidity with intake, exhaust, and a manual boost controller hitting 14psi @ 2800 on the stock turbo with stock IC.

Ill stop argueing so this thread can stay on track and not turn into a 4-page flame war.

cars with 4 doors have back seats that's how it started i just think a true sports car should either not have a backseat or have one the is very uncomfortable and no one would want to ride in it anyway.

u give basing everything on magazines, have anyone actually raced one? i have, i lauch good a 5k rpm, i don't know about him but he had me first and second but third was my gear, i wasn't racing in my 87T2 RX-7 but my friend 1989 TurboII, full exhaust n1,k&N filter, mbc, fuel pump. (i think that's about it) isn't modded much, no back interrior, no emmissions, tb mod.

at searspoint, i see alot of 14.8s wrx the lowest i saw was 13.5 and he was well equiped - i saw a intercooler don't know about the rest. But it's all about SKILLS. WRX AND RX-7 pretty much the same, just we're a little bit lighter, WRX puts out about 160 something to the wheels, no lie, i've seen dyno graphs of intake and exhaust wrxs, with intake and down pipe on an RX-7 u should reach near 180 or so horsepower with the extra boost ur making.

if u really scared, take out rear stuff, ie boxes, spare, etc.

forgot, sometimes the weather can make or break u,
hot days turbo will not be as good as cold days, all WRX at the track and dyno was on hot days..

Wrx has a 0-60 5.5 seconds, Not exactly a car to laugh at, no shame in losing to that, now, if you were talking about a honda civic...

What's the big deal about a brand new $25,000 car beating a 15 year old $3,000 car?

I think it will be very close from a roll, but from a dead stop, you better know how to drive.

btw-my dad has a bone stock WRX.

It all depends of what model WRX is. Are you guys getting only the 225hp version only? Because here they are different models starting from 225hp stock to 300+ stock. A friend of mine has a WRX that its 300hp bone stock. I think the model is 22B. WRXs, EVOs and such are as common in my island as are mustangs in the US. Also FCs are more rare than FDs.

so what if its a $26,000 car!? in 15 years it too will be chump change. Duh. and as for them being hype. whatever how about saying a FD is hype because a 3sgte can easly match the FDs power with MORE torque. Yes there are plenty of 500-750 hp mr2s (just not in the states, CHANGE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD PPLS!)
But that doesn't mean its hype So anyway i wouldn't be so happy that my t2 conversion with mods beat a stock wrx.... yeah its messed up the guy is talking trash but still. nothing special. When i get out of college and wrx WILL be my daily driver. hopefully they are pretty cheap by then. Oh yeah the US is getting the STI version the interior is soo nice if i see any show scene guys change it i'm gonna flip
Bashing cars because they are not an rx7, newer then yours there fore costing more is I say its a tie BUT sence this kids seems young he prolly can't drive so i say you win

Why is there talk about how good of car the WRX is, what kind of seating arangement, how many doors, it's price etc? Totally off topic about his RX-7 vs a stock WRX.

Fact: Based on about a dozen posts above a stock WRX will run 13.8 - 14.4

Fact: With the mods on his RX-7 he should be running 13.7-14.5

Therefore: They should be damn freekin close! If you know how to drive well, and your car is set-up properly, you can take him. If you do that turbo upgrade you were mentioning, you are going to smoke him.
