Would you trade for a 88 GT-S
I know this guy who wants my 88 GTU, for his 88 Toyota GT-S, the car has a 4AGE engine, but has 215,000 miles, but has replaced alot of parts on it.
My GTU only needs a paint job. runs perfectly.

the GTS is a cool car but can't keep up with the 7 in terms of performance. fuel economy is far better in the GTS. you will just have to consider the condition of his car vs. the condition of yours. do you feel that its a fair trade? i personally like the GTU a lot and would not trade.

it would depend on how much work has been done to the GT-S and your FC.
I own both (my '89 Corolla SR5 might as well be a GT-S at this point...) and they're both fun cars. It just depends on your tastes. The Corolla is a FWD sporty economy car, which the FC is a sports car.
My corolla does get about 35 mpg though. and engines for swaps are pretty plentiful. My swapped corolla is faster than an NA FC...

Naturally, the responses are likely to be biased here, but I'd say no too; assuming comparable mechanical and body condition, these cars are not in the same league. So unless you place a premium on good fuel mileage, the GT-S is a non-contender. As was already said, sporty FWD (that would get spanked by my wife's Saturn) vs a real sports car, that even in base form offered a lot more engine, handling, and better interior and features.
Probably true, but the FC and an All-Trac would be closer in terms of performance and value than the GT-S is to the FC.

All Tracs may be rare, but so's the market for them. I haven't seen that they go for very much - 2,000 to 4,000 for most, saw one asking 7 in really good shape - don't know if they got it though. They were fairly cool back in the day, but never stood out for most people from it's more pedestrian sporty-coupe Celica roots.

The simple fact that its FWD = fail. Its no different from a Honda, it has limited potential because of a major handicap.
It might be a good idea if the OP is looking for a more reliable daily with better gas mileage. Toyota engines run forEVER, might have to change the headgasket/valve seals but the bottom end never dies if properly maintained. And you could probably boost the **** out of it without worrying about little crap like with our engines.

aftermarket parts for that are going to be rare as well.

You wont have to worry about theft as a potential issue from thieves who target sports cars/trend cars.
