Would you like a MEMBER'S RIDES thread / sticky???

Stole this one from the "other" forum...

I've noticed a LOT of "POST PICS OF YOUR RIDE" threads, and this would all be minimized if we had a sticky on top.

Sure, it's going to end up super long, but it does eliminate duplicate postings every week.

I've posted this suggestion in the Suggestions section, and reponse was favorable.

So do you want a super long sticky that allows you to post your pics that stay in one place???

Yes, it seems to work well. I am still in favor of a rotating featured car as well...have a database of members ride pics (pre approved by admins to filter out the BS pics) that rotates every day, hour, whatever...

Yes, and the photo gallery has restricted users from saving (by conventional means anyway) files to their HD for later viewing, or their collection. Stupid, really.

Can it be done like on www.teamfc3s.org/forum where the pictures of our cars are at the top of the home page and every time you click on a different page within the web site a new picture comes up. If you click on the current picture, it takes you to the members profile so you can read about the car, send them PMs, etc..

Thats what Ive posted above, except that theyve let a lot of bullshit pictures get in the rotation...the files should be edited and preapproved before being shown, to keep out non-car pictures, or ratty-*** rides.

if such a thread is started, the point will be ruined by people asking questions....

i.e. "what wheels are those"
"i love ur car"
etc
and it'll be a 20 page mess with maybe 5 pics posted.

They should do the top like the rx8club has it, a few cars that are rotated every time you refresh.

Such a forum would probably need a mod unto itself due to size. The mod should be particular about the quality and quantity of pics allowed, to preserve overall forum space, as well as load time for those viewing.

Or you tell people to host the pictures not on the RX7club server and some other source such as photobucket. This site is bogged down enough im not so sure the admin's would want to have such a thing. Granted I know people attach pics anyways... but its not that hard to make an account elsewhere and use someone elses bandwidth.

Just a thought... like the rest of course.

And have a bunch of red x's on the screen 50% of the time or more. People will probably constantly be accessing these photos, and most all of the free sites put a limit on data transfer or remote linking.

All very good points...

One of the side points that was made was an "added mod" to take care of this.

It's funny that this was the original thread that popped up in the Suggestions section.

Maybe you guys might want to add your 2 cents in there?

Right now I think there are two active mods, and I know at least one of them has explicitly stated that he doesn't have time to cover ALL of the 2nd gen section.

*I* think more mods would be welcome in here.

This is the most active generation section and only second to the Lounge section.  I would think we would need more than two active mods?
