World's highest rotary mileage?!! I know!!

I went cruising around with a friend of mine down Stevens Creek auto mall to check out some new cars and maybe test drive a few. Him in his Mazda MP5 and me in a GTUs stop at a McDonalds for some grub. Then an adult black guy in a white series 4 FC SE parks next to me and I say "Nice car." I get out and we talk for a bit then he mentions that his rotary has 413,xxx on the odometer. I thought he was shitting me or either on his 2nd motor being an N/A. I looked under the hood and the odometer. It looked legit to me. He was the original owner. Bought the car on December 27th, 1985 and now has 413,xxx miles on it. I was about to crap in my pants. Just knowing a rotary could last 100,000mi+ would make me happy but to see a 400,000mi+ makes me grin like no other.

Has anyone heard of such numbers? Higher or even close to this?!!

- Kevin

prolly at least had some sort of rebuild on the motor. i could never believe a motor running up to 400,000 miles, withought a rebuilt or swap. and a honda/toyota cant even make it up that high.

Reminds me of Married With Children when Al Bundy goes for the million mile mark in order to get a Viper... Did the guy look like Al Bundy? j/k... but still, pretty sweet. I used to have an '86 base that was still going pretty strong at 146k and now driving a pain in the *** vert (i love it though) that has only 82k miles on it.

I've driven a toyota camrey up to 380k and it still ran strong, didn't burn oil or anything, transmission had no 2nd gear though! My RX7 has 80,771, my other rx7 had 137 until I crashed it, and the one I think I own (been sitting in my yard long enough!) has 76K

My g-pa's toyota p/u has 410+K on her. Has some carb problems, but still runs strong. The key to engine life is maintenance.

my 86 gxl 's motor went at 308,882. They told me that it was the eccentric seals? I don't really know if that was what caused the problem but none the less i put a new ported motor in

i dunno guys. I had my doubts too but the guy seems pretty legit and knows his stuff. I just think he kept it clean and kept it running good. I'm sure anybody would be skeptic. Especially a piston engine owner.

i think you guys are missing the point of this thread. So your lincoln town car has 800,000 miles, big deal. But this is a rotary here. I'm only talking about rotaries. How often do you come by a 400,000mi+ rotary? I mean, piston lovers would be shitting in their pants.
