woohoo! used some Sea Foam..got pics...like carb cleaner

Ok...after reading over 150 posts here about the water/steam trick, the carb cleaner trick, etc. I decided I'd go with the "Sea Foam" because it actually says on it that you can suck it through a vacuum hose. I figured this stuff is meant for this kind of application so it was probably less risky.

I wasn't sure exactly which vac line to use but on the bottle it suggested the one for the brake booster. Since I have my brake booster hooked up to a difgferent vac line (as of a few days ago) i had that hose just sitting therer with a plug in it. I took advanatage of that and used it to suck in the liquid. There wasn't much vacuum there at first. In fact, that was probably the reason i had braking problems before, but thats another subject. I wasm ore or less pouring the stuff in a little at a time until the car started to die, then id brign the revs up. IT was popping and smoking...it was fun stuff actually. I got my friend to take some pics while i was doing it. Oh yeah...The vacuum more than doubled from that line between start and finish. Im not sure what that means exactly, but I know that there is WAY more vacuum now than before and i will probably hook my brakes up the orignal way after my autoX tomorrow. Back to the topic... I've only driven it for about 15 minutes after all this was said and done and I didn't really feel a difference. It wasn't like a new car, but it did backfire a lot less than it used to. It used backfire real loud anytime i shifted or even reved past 6000 but now its not nearly as bad. I think i still have a grounding issue that I will have to take care of to restore power. More pics are at http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/sk8...=/1f0f&.src=ph but heres one to get it going.

Sea Foam eh? I have found that the way to get best results while doing any of these fluid induction procedures is to rev the engine to redline (rev it, not race it) three solid times after a 10 second feed of fluid into the engine, holding it for 5 seconds on each rev.

The fluid induction causes the carbon to melt and boil, but the revs flush that crap out! This technique flushed enough carbon out of my engine to leave black stains on the bottom of my parking space.

BTW, your vacuum line or your vacuum port itself was probably clogged with gunk that the sea foam removed.

yeah, thats what i figured happened to the vac line. The one down side to sea foam is its not in a pressurized can. Its in a bottle that you have to pour or suck from. I poured it into another little dish so i could measure how much it was sucking up. As far as the revving goes, thats pretty much how i did it. Id pour some and then rev it a couple times until the smoke lessened.
