Unhappy won't turn over

Hi ,
I have an 87 GXL. I had just replaced my exhaust with a custom one and my freind put the battery in backwards. I found that it destroyed my feul pump relay. I decided to replace that with a switch and inline fuse back to the fuel pump. The other issue I had is that my tempature sensor was severedat the top where the wire connects to the sensor. I was wondering if the temp sensor not being in had anything to do with the car not turning over. I am getting spark from the plugs and the feul pump works. Anything you guiys can tell me will help will help. Thank you.

rx7's may be different. but i accientally did the same in a car i had a long time ago and it ended up being a fuseable link.

Check all of the fuses in the fusebox @ the strut tower. Also check the ROOM/ENGINE fuses in the interior kick panel.

thats what you get for letting other people work on your car eh? lol

Double check that your getting spark, and that room fuse. in the event you lost that lid to the fuse box the picture of it can be found on here.

I dont know that the temp sensor would cause a no fire situation, i believe its just responsible for the buzzer that would go off. To get rid of that buzzer you can simply ground that severed wire to your chassis for the time being. that would also negate any reason that it would keep you from starting, but like i said i don't believe their are any. maybe some one could chime in on that affirmatively.

Do you guys think their is any reason to check for pulse signal at the injectors. in the event the ecu was damaged by that battery being backward that would be one thing to check.

also, and im just trying to move the discussion along. what else could cause a no fire situation, no afm signal?

And does turn over mean run or spin. Specifics are your friend here as we can't touch your car.

by that he means listen for the click of the injectors though a screw driver handle.

^ a wise man...

as i know it, the situation is the motor cranks, the fuel pump hums and the spark plugs fire. but the engine refuses to catch and run. or even try very hard.

JMO, You could have toasted the ECU that controls the injector part of the Computer..
If injectors are Firing. make sure spark is sparking at the right time..
if you have fuel and spark could be

very likely you smoked the AFM for the air intake sensor. If you have another one give that a try

if you have fuel the EGI fuse should be good. Check it anyways

Air intake sensor is not used at cranking rpm, it uses a map.

hey guys I got some updates.

Checked for spark at the coil packs, the packs near the block are sparking off at half the rate of the ones up by the battery. I don't know if this is normal??
seem to sparking pretty hard.

listened for the injectors through a screw driver handle. nothing clicking off that i can hear. i can smell the fuel and hear the pump.

what am i dealing with here guys? bad ecu.. some other electrical.

so you have fuel and spark, but its not catching.

could be the ecu.. i cant think of anything else that would cause injector malfunction..
maybe timing..
