wont rev past 5 and 1/2

so i went out to my car today and switched out my TPS sensor cuz i thought it could be part of another issue i was having, and when i turned the car on and reved it the needle would only go to 5 and 1/2 then i couldnt push it any further... i tried to get it to rev a couple more times but it wouldnt and then i heard something from the bottom of my car and my cat was glowing orange... does anyone know what this could be?

When you changed the TPS, did you verify it was working correctly and adjusted correctly? That would be the first place to start as it happened after that change. A very clogged cat or timing being way off are other possibilities.

i thought timing might be off so i was gonna buy a timing light yesterday but was never able to do it...

and adjusting the TPS is one thing ive never completely gotten, ive read a couple things on it but its always been things such as plug it into the green dot but the picture would be in black and white... could the TPS be whats causing it?
