Wont Idle after tranny swap and hollowing out the cat converter

I put a new transmission in my 1987 2nd gen. When i had the exaughst off i decided to hollow out my catalytic converter. after installing the new tranny the car will start up but unless i keep the throtle going it will die immedietly. The car drives fine once i start moving and can cruise in 3rd 4th and 5th gear below three thousand rmp but at slow speeds i have to keep it around 4 thousand rmp. Anyone heard of this. I think it might be because of not enough backpressure for the rotars. but dont know for sure.

got any ideas why it would not have an idle. could a tranny wire be crossed that would cause it to have no idle

check your vacuum hoses maybe you pop`d off a hose of a censor, check your air flow meter make sure its connected,i don't think it has to do with the tranny.

87 N/A needs some kind of cat for backpressure.
