whatever someone is willing to pay

there is also no mention of the condition of the engine, which is probably the most important thing.

most likely $2k average up to $3k if you're lucky.

you also won't be doing an LSx swap for under that figure even if you do all the work yourself. plan on $5k+ after it's all said and done.

As of condition its in good shape, doesnt go through coolant healthy oil changes of casrol gtx 20/50
Would assume compression is good, fires right up,

I can get a 5.3 for $400 all day and granny speed shop has the cradle, motor mounts and drive shaft for $830. Work will be done by me. Will still need headers, chipped ecu, radiator and other misc. Items

if you can get the engine, transmission, harness and ECU for that then there is a possibility. it's the other things you mentioned are usually where the problem lies in cost and time vested.

rule of thumb: guesstimate your lowest total installation costs then double them, guesstimate your total labor amounts and then double them.

for the amount of money and time you will be in i would probably opt for a better setup and spend the extra $1k.

I had the vats system in my truck disable for $35. Its really not as big a deal as everyone makes it out to be. A couple key strokes and it was done. Im sure you could find a decent set of used headers and exhaust as its not an uncommon swap. Lsx swaps can be done for relitively cheap if your on a budget. Depending on your location, your budget could be pretty reasonable.

"Assume" all you want, the trick is making the buyer make the same assumption.

Your $400 motor is ready to run, needs nothing?
What transmission does it come with?

Not a big fan of Granny's stuff, look into Ronin Speedworks for much better options.

Personally I'd just keep it rotary and upgrade your Turbo and fuel system.

I'd tend to think most used lsx motors probably been beaten on as much as any t2 motor so longevity is questionable.

Its either run my setup till it pops and go v8 or sell my setup while its healthy and invest in the swap. The later sounds more economical

all of the 5.3 aluminum block motors where in the later model vehicles from gm and they will not cost 400$ they will be more, you also have to remember the truck intakes do not fit under a rx7 hood without modification, So a ls1 intake will be needed unless you want a raised custom hood...witch in my opinion looks ridiculous on a rx7. If you get any of the truck engines they will need to be rebuilt if you are putting cams on it, high rpms on that crap bottom end and oil system will make it implode on itself in no time. If I was going to do a v8 swap I would always factor in rebuilding the engine, most of the ebay/junkyard engines will need it if you want it too last more then a couple months.

You'll also need to delete the truck accessory mounts for Vette/Camaro parts (the truck mounts everything up high).
