wondering about the electric fan conversion on my '91 TII
If it's not broken dont fix it. Unless you really hungry for performance you dont' need to change it.
I went the e-fan route and sometimes regret it. This is what i have and i battle cooling on a daily bais @ 80 degrees.
Fluidyne radiator
Perma cool fan
new thermo
new rad cap
new fluid
thermo sensor
all shrouds in place
i can't figure it out................still likes to over heat. Annoyn as all get out. Sooooo much money to keep it cool and i have not been able to do that yet and its not even hot or has AC.

Sorry, just found it funny.
So where does your temperture gauge read?, I put in a e-fan a while back, but I never bothered to see where the gauge read before I did it..so i don't know if it's running cooler or hotter.
Stock gauges are peices of crap. The boost gauge is WAYYYYYYYY off... the fuel gauge is inconsistent and garbage... I'd imagine the temperature gauge is crap as well. I'll let you know soon because i have an autometer temperature gauge on its way.

Fans should always run through relays. Anything else is asking for trouble later. There are no circuits in the stock wiring that have the spare capacity to safely run the ~15A that a big fan draws.

You want to see scary, almost every project I have ever done has a diagram that was written on my garage wall in black magic marker. Its so that if ever I need to go rehash it, its there. Not the most beautiful wall, but definately informative if you can understand that BR is black with a red line.

, it may not be pretty but its pretty damn safe. Anything that I have ever wired has been an isolated circuit behinf a fuse. I've seen the results of a poor wiring (actually saw a 10ga wire that was melted and welded to a firewall) and I know how not to do it.On the other hand-- you're are most definately right, sometimes I look back and think:: what the hell did I do here. Takes me 15-20 minutes to rehash it all and understand what I did.
