wiring problem : e-fan

Okay I have an old ford escort fan. It's hooked up by a relay now the circuit breaker is on the wire that connects directly to the battery but whenever the fan kicks on the circuit breaker cuts the power within a few seconds and then just clicks..

I've checked numerous times and everything seems to be setup correctly but I'm no expert so if anyone has any idea how to fix this or any other means of wiring it please share your insight.
