So, I've got the FC2000 replica bumper from Shine Auto Project. I decided to rig-up my own headlights. The two lights on the far sides, I have wired up (with an inline fuse) to a switch in the cockpit. I use these for my "brights" and have had no problems with these. The two lights on the inside I have wired to the harness. I cut off the old three-prong connectors for the old lights, and wired the lights in using only two of the three wires. I wired the black for ground and the red/black for power. The red/white wire I left alone and taped it up. I had no problem until I actually had to use my lights yesterday while driving. The front beams stayed on even after the fuse blew... the tails and orange side markers were out, along with my cluster lights. I believe it's the 15A fuse in the fuse box, labeled: Illumination or maybe even "Illum."

I am wanting to avoid having to wire up another switch. I would like to use the stock light ****.

My question is... Should I wire an inline fuse for each of the two lights? Or are there any other suggestions??

 

The headlights are part of a different circuit than the lights which you have problems with. Headlights use the Head fuse while the tail lights and the other lights you mention rely on the Illumination fuse. Rewiring the headlights or adding additional fuses shouldn't rectify the situation.

 

Hmm... I wonder what is affecting the cluster, tails, etc...?

 

Could be a short in a wire, a dirty light socket......... Disconnect the headlight pigtail harness where it connects to the switch and see if there are burnt marks and focus on the White/Green, Red/Black and Red/Green wires for apparent damage.

 

I didn't find anything strange. Earlier it blew two fuses, and now I try a fuse and it works... We will see what happens when I start it and drive it, though.
