i baught a new motor to install in my 87 but im trying to keep my harness and use it again. i dont know why i cant seem to get it off of the motor. can somebody link a how to on removing the harness but keeping it in the car please

The harness runs behind the water pump housing, across the front iron & then back towards the oil filter. All of the connections you need to unplug are along there. Take off the intake manifold or you won't be able to reach half of them.

 

It may actually be easier to take the Harness and the Old engine out as One.there are only a couple Clips on the ECU to take off,and then you Push it through the firewall...That way when you have the Old engine Out and sitting Beside the NEW engine,you can see where everything has to go..sort of a Quick reference.The other way(taking the Harness off the engine and leaving it in the car) you have No real way of Comparing anything.Not Unless you Mark all the Wires.
