wire hanging form above drivers side muffler

what the f is it? just this random wire not connected to squat, looks like a ground though, 2 other rex owners i know also have the same dangling wire, what do you guys think, any ideas?

I believe they're static whips, to dissipate the charge created by the air and exhasut moving through the pipes.

I dont think so. I know what hes talking about. its right in the mid section of the cat back. they hand down from the middle hangers from the cat back on either side.

but maybe im completely wrong :P

It's an extra ground for the exhaust system.
It's supposed to help minimize corrosion and possibly help the O2 sensor (signal)...
It's supposed to be connected to the exhaust, but most times it's ripped off when touching the stock exhaust for something...

Sure is confusing with so big a variance in answers. Jono, is that why my antenae for the stereo doesn't go all the way down: grounding rod for electrical storms? hehehehe If its a ground, where should it be attached exactly?

Jono is wrong, Ted is right.

One end should be bolted to the chassis, the other to the exhaust. It should not hang down.

Anywhere will work, but usually under one of the bolts on the muffler flange.
