Wiper Switch from 91 into 86?
I have done the search, and found no answer to this question, so please don't think I haven't at least tried the newbie route.
Does anyone know if a 1991 wiper/hazard lights switch will work and fit properly in a 1986 STD model? Mazdatrix lists two different part numbers for 86-88 and 89-92, but I don't know if there is actually a difference?!?? Please let me know!

They will. Just get the wiring harness to line up and they'll work. You'll need to pop the wires out of the connectors to shuffle them around. You'll need both sets of switches and the harnesses that go to them side by side to see the differences.

They all swap no matter the year...you *may* have to swap the buttons (I had to, the S4 hazard button was sticking on the cluster hole). I put one from a S4 SE into my 91 TII. The only fun I had was removing the false rear wiper switch **** which had been glued on. Don't worry about different harnesses, my 91 has a rear wiper, but there have been 2 different switches without rear wiper in there.
Of course in my wiring frenzy, I burned out the intermittent relay on my replacement... That's cause I was messing with the entire ECU harness wiring in a EMS.
So, YES. It will work fine.

Cool. I was thinking that the Mazda engineers, in their infinite wisdom, did the switch up like the headlight switch and switched some wires around. I always can find the right wiper switch for my '89. It's the headlight switch I've had to get resourceful with to make work.
Sorry for any confusion.
