Wiper switch

So there are lots of posts about the wiper switch, but most comment on the relay primarily having to do with only partial operation. I have no operation on my front or rear wiper. The car is an 89 GXL with TII swap. Trying to figure out where the ground comes from for the switch so I can make sure that isn't the problem. The motor works if I ground it and it returns home fine. At this point it seems like it is either the switch or the ground to the switch.

Real simple trouble shooting method. Pull the switches elec plug off.

Key to ON.

Make a jumper wire out of a small gauge wire.

Jumper b/t the pure black wire and either the blue/white or blue/red wire. Wipers should now work/move.

Did not move???? Or moved???? Which. Takes but moments to do this.

Lets say the wiper did not move. Did you have the key to ON? or not? Should have been ON. Next step is to take your jumper out of the pure black wires socket in the plug and leave the other end of said jumper in the blue/white. Now put the end of the jumper to a KNOWN ground point nearby. Wipers should move.

If the wipers now moved, then you did find out the problem........lack of a gnd on the pure black wire in the switches elec plug. Trace that wire back to it's ground point and your fixed.

OR say the wipers did not move when doing the sentence above. Then the next move is to ohm out the blue/white wire from the switch to the motors elect plug. IT has to be open. There is no other explanation for lack of movement......unless you left the plug off the wiper motor.

See your local wiring diagram for the end points of the black wire and all connectors inbetween that switches plug and the gnd point called ground point number 2.

Then again, ground #2 has a different location depending on whether or not the car has airbags or not. See you wiring diagrams for gnd #2's location for YOUR car.

And yet again I doubt gnd #2 is the problem. Why? "Cause gnd #2 is also used for the MAIN RELAY's gnd point and your main relay is pulling in, isn't it? Say yes. So that is not the problem.
