Window Tinting Gone Awry
So I got my windows tinted. 20% all around. Blaze Red 90 GTU.
I'm sitting in the shop's waiting room and I hear a loud crash and I figure it was a shelf. I'm sitting reading my latest RXTuner issue and the guy comes out and says "Well, you probably heard but your rear window collapsed" I'm thinking wtf... Apparently the guy working on it was trying to remove this aftermarket antennae I had on the window near the very top. I never used it and didn't really know what it was for, it was there ever since I got the car. He said he applied a little bit of pressure and the window imploded. They called around and found a rear window with a wiper, which I didn't have before because I have a GTU. They said they could hook it up and I could use the wiper. I said that'd be great because I always wanted a rear wiper.
So the next day I get my car and it has the wiper and all but there's some problems. The switch for the wiper is down by the foot vent, in a hole where a screw was suppose to be but wasn't, so they used that for the switch. I don't know why they didn't use the switch that's right below the emergency light switch. I'm hoping I can relocate the switch. Also, the carpeting on the top of my storage bins was ruffled up and the driver's side one has the carpet coming up on the corner. You can see it in the pictures.
I'm wondering how hard it would be to relocate the wiper switch and how to fix the carpeting. Any help would be appreciated.

Tinting looks great! I always liked 20%. How much did you pay for it? Yea relocating the switch would be pretty easy if that **** is actually a switch and not just a piece of plastic resembling a rear wiper ****. If you know anything about electricity at all you should know how to hook it up. And the carpet can most likely just be glued down again with your favorite glue, mine would be JB Weld, it does everything.

i am sure its a great tint job they did but it looks ugly... once you tint the back window realy dark most fo the other windows go darker.. and i am not a fan of the windshield banner you got there.. i would pull the tint off the sides and the wiindshield or at least go lighter on the side.. i think youll get tired of that in a year or so.. doesnt ahve the classy look to it..
anyways use some glue to stick the carpet back down and grab a rear window switch and hook it up just extend the wires from where they put the switch. and grab a cover from the JY for that rear wiper motor

the rear wiper is supposed to be straight up and down when it's not moving. as opposed to sideways like yours is in the pic. just a little FYI, i suppose you could have it however you prefer.

what % did you do your windshield in, i was thinking of 25% all around and maybe really light on the windshield with a banner, but i live in phoenix so from about 6-9am and 4:30-7pm you get super sunrise and sunset which are very blinding and kinda dangerous
i was also thinking maybe 35% on hatch and side windows and then juts 35% visor with teh front window clear.
how visible is it at night? there are MANY streetlights out here but i like to go railing in the mountains at night every once in a blue moon so i would need some night visibility

The stock wiper switych you have, does not have a rear wiper provision. You would need to add the correct switch before you do anything about moving the rear wiper switch.
I do have dual (front and rear wiper) switches in stock again on my website

Now that I have a wiper switch that has the rear wiper functionality, I am unsure of what to do next. I need to get the wire coming from the rear wiper to hook up to the switch somehow. Has anyone done this swap before that could help out?

I have a question for those of you who have the rear wiper stock. Where does the wire go to that is coming from the rear wiper assembly? If you read this thread you'll know how the tint shop ghetto rigged a switch. I need to know where to reroute the wire so I can use the rear wiper function on the stock wiper switch I just swapped in.

Am I the only one who finds it a little strange that the rear window "imploded"? Sounds like they were trying to do something nasty, like heat the window to remove the antenna. The rear window is very tough. Mine has taken huge amounts of abuse (including a rear-end collision that displaced the entire rear of the car 2" forward) and has never been broken.
BTW, tint looks good similar to what I have on my car.

Yeah I agree Aaron... the only thing I can think of is that the tinter was trying to pry off the antenna with a screw driver or something and knicked into the glass.

Defroster maybe?
I like the tint also.
My red NA had that same front tint.
I got so used to it, I miss it now.

Could I just solder the wire from the ghetto switch into the wire for the rear wiper going into the harness plug? Or would I have to connect it up somewhere further back on the circuit? Where do the wires from the harness plug hook up to anyway?
