Window assembly

Will the power window assembly from any other car replace the one from an 88 gxl drivers side? If not, where can I buy one for a reasonable price... (Not Mazda)

Have you taken yours apart to see exactly what the problem is? I went to Mazda, 5 hundred some odd dollars, junk yards, right , only 1 RX there and the shell was all that was left. I am in the process of "repairing mine right now, have photos, will forward when finished. Cable broke in mine. Try for sale section for now. LOL. More patience than anything.

apathy, I'm not sure, but I think as long as it's from a coupe you'd be in shape. But I don't really know. Only thing I know is the vert doors are longer than the coupes, so I'd think anything from a coupe would work...

mombo, I'm got busted cables too, I tried to get alternate parts, was going to do a write-up on how to switch to autoloc power windows(both sides under $300) but it seems like autoloc is never going to get those parts again. crappy...

So,

Like everyone else, I'm going to try this:

https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-archive-72/rebuilding-power-window-regulator-convertible-39340/

that write up is for the vert, but I think will give the basic idea for all cable drive systems...\\

Again, went to the local junkyard to get a better idea on the rebuild, but as always, not 2nd gen RX, verts, let alone any 2nd gen. cars. Must be golden, cause I'm not letting my son get rid of this for anything. I also went to that thread, but unfortunately, 88 and 90 are different. I am going to just do what I didn't want to, and take off passenger side for exact view.

I found several sites that will rebuild for you, but I'm to stubborn to let someone else do it for me. I will post sites if you would like, otherwise, give me another day or two, and it will be done.

I've fixed everything else myself, with everyone heres help, and this SOB will not defeat me. I will have pictures and description soon.

Just a note: I am not affliated with this website in any way/shape/form. I don't get any kickbacks from them, and they likely don't even know I exist.

If you're looking for used parts,a nd the for sale section of this forum (on the front page) is not helping you out, try http://car-part.com for a national search of junkyard inventories. Most of them will ship to you..

Might be worth checking out

Thanks Wonko, I appreciate the added information. I hope it doesn't come to that, I'm too stubborn to let this beat me yet. It's a rubic's cube for me, and all that you guys here have taught this dumb ***, it hasn't beaten me, YET. It's a stupid challenge, cause the money I've spent so far, it would be easier to give up, and fork out the dough. But I'm Irish, enough said.

Thanks again.
