Window - *Pop* No Longer Goes Up
I pulled up to a friends house in the 'vert. I pulled up on the switch to raise the driver side window and HEARD a *pop* sound. The window would not go up but regardless of which direction I pulled/pushed the switch, it would go down.
I pulled the panels off both doors to try and compare and see if anything looked broken or disconnected. At the moment, I'm assuming the window regulator broke in some fashion.
Any thoughts or suggestions as to what I should look for?
Thanks!

sounds like the motor is bad and the gears are bad so that when you try and roll it up its stripping out and just sliding down. and ofcourse when you roll it do it works due to gravity

I have had problems with my passenger side window for about a month now. Would go down but not up. I did not hear a 'pop sound through. I finally half way fixed it, driver's side switch works both windows. Had to take the switch apart and clean all contacts. It worked but I did notice what I considered large arc gaps on some of the contacts on circuit board. To check the motor, remove the door panel and put 12v to the motor. Two connections, one way goes up, other goes down, works on polarity. I used jumper cables and alligator clips for final connection. May help with diagnosing the motor.
