Will this rear end fit???

I am looking to upgrade my rear end to a Torsen LSD, the one I found is for a 89-91 Rx-7 I have a '87. There is currently no LSD in the differential. I think that the regular clutch type will fit all 2nd gens but not sure. IF anyone knows let me know

Who makes the Torsen? It depends what application they built it for, it will vary for n/a or turbo diff. Contact the manufacturer is your best bet.

looks like a 31-spline unit. I thought that the 86-91 Rx-7 had the same rear end design just small differences like the flange, lsd type, and ratios. I was thinking the parts were interchangeable

Turbo diffs are larger then n/a diffs. You cannot put a turbo diff into an n/a pumkin.

N/A rears(7") will interchange with each other, so long as you have the right stub shaft for the application. And Turbo rears(8") will interchange with each other so long as you have the correct stub shafts. Turbo and N/A rears will not interchange with each other.

If you want a torsen get one out of a miata if you're NA.

FYI GSL-SE, all 2nd gen NA and 7" miata rear ends interchange (just the diff unit not the pumpkin). Well, I'm not sure about the 2005+ miatas but all NA/NB aside from the 1.6l 6" diffs will swap over.

Don't forget to have the gear lash set when you swap everything over.

the 84-85 rx7, 86-91 NA and the 94-05 miata's interchange.

the 71-83 diffs use a smaller axle, and the 90-93 miata is a 6" ring gear or something.

the 2006+ miata is weird, its not an FD/t2/rx8 and its not an 84-2005 NA.....
