I have never seen the AFM distinguished as being different from Turbo to NA. Since it only gives a voltage change for the amount of air and not pressure I would say that it would work. My philosophy is always to Try it and then you will know first hand.

They may be calibrated different, so you'd want to be sure. Just call Mazda and ask them to compare the part numbers for you.

87-88 AFM's have different part numbers, so there is something different about them.

They may work, but it wont be correctly. The N/A AFM flows 600cfm, while the Turbo flows 750cfm.

I've heard that you can adapt a T2 AFM to run on an NA if you change the spring tension. People do this because the T2 flows better. If you go NA, I suppose it could be adjusted to work, but your air flow will suffer.

Can you fix yours?

It works
BUT!!!!
You have to adjust the wheel to get the proper idel if the ECU does not accept it. If you pull the black plastic off the top you will see what I mean.
