will 17 * 9 fit withotu rubbing

hey.

I just almost read every sticky here and could not find anything to help me out. i found stock rim sizes and fd sizes but nothign abotu after market.

anyway. I am looking into purchasing a set of rims. the fronts are a 17 * 7 with a 35mm offset and the rear is a 17 * 9 with a 38 mm ofset.

I plan to use 225/50/17 tires for the front and 255/50/17 for the rear. I an preety sure the front wont rub on the struts or the fenders. But i am not so sure if the back will rub.

This leads to my questios. will the 17* 9 with a 255/50/17 tire fit without any rubbing or will I have to do any mods to fit them on.

Thanks for all the help guys.

it is a 88 gtu if it makes a difference

I honestly don't know about if the rears will fit. The fronts should be fine, but might need a spacer of some sort. The rears might need rolled fenders to fit, but I dunno. It'll be cutting it close, probably.
The main thing is that you are going with the wrong tire sizes. Those tires are larger than stock which will throw off the speedo calibration, not to mention hurt your acceleration times by effectively giving you taller gear ratios.
For the fronts I would use 225/45-17's, with 255/40-17's in the rear. The speedo will still be off a bit, but nothing like with the 50 series tires in the rear. If you used 245/40-17s in the rear the speed would be dead on and you would be less likely to hav rubbing issues. I know I have heard of people using that size tire with no modifications.
Edit: here is a thing about tire sizes: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

the 9s should fit good, FCs can have like 9 1/2s in the rear and still look flush

Silver RPF-1s on look so Secks on FCs...

Too bad they're like 1200 a set :p

I would suggest you just get 17X8's all around if you want to be able to rotate your tires like a normal person and not ruin need to change out half your tires every 10,000 miles because you couldn't rotate them.

Unless you've got a LOT of power, or a lot of time and money to get new tires 2x as much.

They're 40's (235/40-17 F and 255/40-17 R) and my FC was slammed on HKS drift-spec coilovers in the pics.

I miss that car.
