Wierd throttle problems

Ok, so I have a 1987 turbo two... 60k miles on the motor. I have been having some trouble starting it up. I get it running and all through the revs it is fine... The problem is when im not on it, and let it idle, it dies... If I give it a little gas before it dies it will bog and run again.. When I go to accelerate it bogs and then goes... I dont know what the hell is going on here.. So recap

Will not Idle.
can save it from dying by pressing and releasing the gas pedal several times
bogs and then goes when you attempt to accelerate.

Most likely a vacuum leak. Check the Turbo Inlet Duct (TID) on the turbo side. Just pull it off the car so you can get a good look at it, sometimes the cracks are hard to see while it's on the car. If that's not it then get a can of carb cleaner or nonchlorinated brake cleaner and spray it around vacuum tubes and just about anywhere in your engine bay with the engine running. If there's a leak then the engine will increase in speed. I know you said it won't idle so get a brick to place on the accelerator while you are spraying the fluid. That way you won't have to have your foot on the gas and be spraying the fluid in your engine at the same time.
