WIERD radiator level sensor
WIERD radiator level sensor
I have a wierd radiator level sensor...It not only has a electrical connector but also has a hose (with fluid) off the side. My problem is that the wire broke off so it barely touches and gets rid of that buzzzzzzz. I have a stock one and it just has the wire... What can i do to get rid of the hose...and put the new one on...
Also...since i put my speedo in it seems as if it is slowwww...like almost sluggish. What could cause this?
Any tips will help :]

Dude ..take a pic..because Nobody has an idea as to what the Part looks like!(not me anyways!)....I'm thinking that you May have an Aftermarket Mechanical Sender Input on top of the Radiator..Did some previous owner Run Mecahanical Gauges to Measure the Temp of the Cooling System?..Find out where that hose with the fluid goes to.If that hose leads Nowhere and it is From the Rad,then you could be loosing Coolant out there, and the Prestone will leak out..Ultimately the End result is a Blown engine..
There are no aftermaret gauges...
Ill take a look right now and see where the hose goes...
the hose utimetely goes to the coolant reservoir...but the hose directly goes to the little box (with radiator cap) to the left of it...

this is not my car but the green line shows what the hose is...
hope that helps...

i'm not sure what you're asking?? the hose goes from the pressure cap to he overflow tank. that's it unless there is something else in line between he cap and the tank. take a picture because i dont understand what the problem/question is

ok..the Coolant sensor is a differnet part altogether than the Rad cap Housing with the Coolant overflow pipe..you cannot get rid of that Hose..if the car Heats up,it puts coolant into the overflow, then takes it back when it cools down(call it a Give and Take System)..if that hose is not there then the Car's Coolnat wil be low and set of the LOW Coolant Buzzer(the Sender)..so you can replace the Hose with a New one.you can Relocate the Coolant overflow bottle,But you cannot Disconnect that Hose,,and take it completely off..the Sender?..Get a New one if the Wirte is Broke. When you Ground that wire,Of COURSE it will Shut the buzzer off, because it is Telling the "warning system that "everything is OK"(so to speak),,and in reality you have just Made your Coolant Sender ineffective, because it is not Hooked up.

Thats what im saying
Um well like i said that was not my car...mine has that hose but doesnt have the cap there. instead it has that wire coming out of the top. See my problem is ive tried to buy a new one of the collant sensor but no one can find one with the hose fitting off the side...so i was thinking maybe the hose belongs someplace else?

ummm... has the OP actually tried to move or remove either part... or are you just popping your hood and look at it. I think if you put your face 2 inches away from the part and try picking up the hose a little, you will find that said parts are in fact not connected and as stated above they are two different parts
Dude, they are two different things? You really need to take a picture of YOUR car, and a close up one, not a top view where we cant see jack. Borrow a camera, upload a pic to photobucket.com and then post the little link they give you here! That simple!
i swear ive seen one where the wire comes right out where the metal hose comes out to travel to the over flow and has no rad cap on it.
i just cant put my finger on where i saw it, might of been on a 1st gen i dont know...
let me see if i can find more info

your car has the coolant overflow kit on it, you need that water level sensor.
so to get the part you need to find someone with that bulletin, and get the part number.
or put the car to stock 88 specs and use the normal water level sensor
