widest tire on stock wheels

i was wondering what the widest and tallest tire you can run on a 87 tII with stock wheels and suspension. i searched but couldnt find anyone that used factory wheels.

you can fit 225/50/16s on them, but need a 5mm spacer on the front... I wouldn't really recommend going any wider.

dam i was hoping to put a set off 255/50r16 mickey thompson drag radials on the back.

The drag radials will fit fine on the 16x7 wheels. I ran this same setup for a few years until I changed it up to some Hoosier 26x9.5 on the same TII wheels.

Be careful with the drag radials on the strip. They have a stiff sidewall so will have a lot of driveline shock that will probably break half shafts or even diffs. I have done both multiple times

did you replace the diff and shafts with factory ones or did you upgrade. and what suspension did you run

Shafts I replaced with factory ones. The diff I ended up installing a KAAZ unit. I do plan on upgrading the shafts soon. Just hoping they will last while running the slicks.

With the mickey's I was running tokico blue's with eibach springs.

that's why you shouldn't run drag radials on a manual trans car
