Talking Wide body choices

I would like to do a wide body conversion on my FC. The car is track only, and I want to fit 17x9.5" rims all the way around with 275-40-17s. I may go with 255-40-17s in the front if there is a much cheaper fender that will fit those.
Choices I am aware of at a reasonable price;
tripoint-1000.00 full kit
Corksport front(BNR)-375.00
panspeed/cs blisters(dont know what I gain with these)
Japco-front only, don't know how much wider than stock
feed- front only-400.00
In a nutshell I'm hoping to find something like the Tripoint for a little less money.
I already own the 17x9.5 rims (rear rims off my SupraTT)
Any input/insight is appreciated. Carl Byck

are you sure you want to chop up your rear quarter pannels? im thinking of making some new front fenders that can hold 245's, that seems to be the widest that can fit on the back with/o moding the sheet metal, this way you can run the same size tire in front.
being N/A, and having a pretty nice S5, i dont have the power to turn big tires and i would feel bad hacking up the rear.

would you be interested in something like this?

OC, for 245s I would go with the Corksport fenders, they are nice looking, and only 375.00 for the pair. They are 30mm wider than stock. Really what I need is rear flares like the Tripoint pieces. I have 235-40-17s on 17x8 TSW rims now, and they fit w/out rubbing(GC coilovers). The car currently makes around 400rwhp, but I'm working on a turbo for closer to 550rwhp. I think with the correct offset, I can fit the 255-40-17s inside the Corksport piece(20mm more tire/30mm more clearance. Also I believe there is a CCw 17x10 fitment that will fit 275s in the stock rear body work(w/tubular trailing arms). Problem is I already own the 17x9.5s, and I'd like to use them. Best regards, Carl Byck

The GTO II Racing Body Package is specifically designed for "tube-framed" race cars, but has been sucessfully applied to the standard RX-7 unibody chassis. It consists of a front airdam, center nose panel, hood assembly, four flared fenders, two door panels, two rocker panels, and a center rear panel. This package is designed to accomodate up to 10"x16" wheels. The GTO-II Package features a single front radiator opening, and a softer front airdam and two front brake cooling ducts. This packahe was used by Roger Mandeville Racing and Team Highball.
My favorite from Mariah...

With the Mariah flares they can fit 255/17's all the way around on custom rims.

I personnally like the TriPoint kit as it retains the stock body lines and allows 275's up front an 315's out back. $1K for the kit is reasonable IMO, $2K for the labor to install it, and $2-3K for CCW wheels starts to add up fast.

Hey Rishie

Mark, I agree with you, I just wanted to make sure I knew all the options. I'll probably go with the BN Sports replica, and 255-40-17 on a 17x9.5 rim in the front, and try and shoehorn the 275-40-17 on a 17x9.5 into the stock rear. Hey Rishie, what offset do I need to fit a 275-40-17 on a 17x9.5 in the stock rear of an FC with coilovers? When are you going to the track next Mark? How about a little road racing on the 25th at Thunderhill for only 125.00? Carl Byck

wide body is one thing, wide wheels is another. Wheels and tires that wide are pretty damn expensive.
heres some wide custom wheels....

I'm sorry, but that Mariah kit is one of the most hideous I've seen... reminds me of cars that had the wide fenders added by every joe bodyshop guy back in the 70's and 80's. Completely destroys the flow of body lines on the car IMO. To each his own, but my motto is subtle changes only -- and this kit is anything but subtle...
YIKES!

again, to each his own... if you like it, go for it -- that makes it your car!!

Talking WIIIIIDE BODY

Well in the interest of subtleness, I have decided upon the Tripoint kit, with the GTC front bumper, and a big *** ricer wing... The car will be yellow, with black wheels, and a black wing. 275-40-17s all the way around. Keep in mind this is a track car. Thanks for all the pictures, Carl
