Why driver's side?

Why do most production cat-back exhausts for the FC exit on the driver's side? Is there some kind of physical limitation that most companies don't want to contend with or something? It just seems that it'd be smarter to go passenger side for a straighter exhaust....Does anyone know?

Thanks,
Collin

believe it or not it is actually straighter to have it exit out the drivers side. get under your car and look at the path the factory exhaust takes (I assume you still have it on your car). I can't remember what exactly, but there is crap in the way of the exhaust running straight back. I think it has something to do with the subframe, halfshafts, diff, and struts being in the way.

The cars are right hand drive in Japan so the exhaust is supposed to help balance the weight.
