why dosent my heat work? SEARCHED FOR HOURS
so after about 4 months of trying to get my heat to work. I'm tired of it so I'm removing the dashboard this weekend to try and get it working. i have tried 2 other logicons out of parts cars and then one i bought here from a forum member that he said worked when he pulled it out, i also tried re-soldering one. and all of them did the same thing. no lights no blower no heat no sounds from air mix motor when i move selector from hot to cold. so what could be the problem? I'm pulling the dash so i can access everything. is there any relays or fuses under the dash that mite be bad? it just seems like there is no power what so ever going to the logicon. i spent at least 3 hours searching here to find my problem and haven't found any answers. please let me know of any relays or testing procedures i need to know to figure this out. thanks

the breaker is fine i checked that already. ive read that thread.. but since i have absolutely no power, pulling on the air mix motor actuator will do nothing for me because i still wont have my blower fan... i think i read somewhere a long time ago that there is a relay on top of the heater core that may be at fault, can anyone tell me what exactly that relay is for?

It could be something simple like a rat got into the car and chewed some wires! You've prob already checked the connections under the glovebox. I just pulled my dash a few months back to replace the heatercore and logicon. Dash is easy if you haven't pulled one before.
The FSM on page 15-103 says to Check circuit breaker then goes on to tell you to use a voltmeter to check connectors. Sounds to me like it might be a faulty harness. Anyways that is where I would start.

cool thanks man.. no i didnt check connections under the glovebox..what connections are you refering too? and does the heater/logicon have its own somewhat small harness or is it like the whole under dash harness? and can someone post a link to the online FSM? i cant seem to find it

i just relized that you may be talking about the blower motor connections? i checked those and also jumped it with a 12v source and the blower motor works fine when i jumped it...

Good luck cause these heater systems can be really tricky.

alright! thanks for the link hailers... i see on page 9 of the FSM it shows all the relays and im looking at number 6 it says its the heater relay. could this be causing my problem? is this the relay that sits on top of the heater box/evaporater unit under the dash? is this what some people refer to as the resistor or transistor? im trying to locate every possible source of the problem, like any relay, transistor, resistor, anything other then the wire harness.

haha thanks, i acctualy havent messed with my rx7 for a while and i lost the link to the FSM when my old computer crashed. ive been busy with my new rx8 so havent touched the 7 lately but i miss it, i gutted the interior a while back so i could get a roll cage installed, im now swaping in a whole black interior since mine was the ugly red. so i have to pull dash anyway. i havent had heat in this car since i bought it like 4 years ago lol

ok i just studied the FSM for a bit and i see on page 15-97 it shows that on the heater/evap box under dash there is the heater relay, then right on the blower motor there is a power transistor and blower resistor. but the only one that i would think could cause my problem is the relay. I couldn't find anywhere in the FSM that says what this relay does. it just says its a heater relay? what does that mean? is it a relay for the blower motor or the logicon?

The transistor can cause a no blow problem. One of the relays can be pulled out and put away. The you can jumper two wires in that relay and then, if the transistor is the blower problem, you can jumper two sockets in the relay base and it'll work. But only on one speed.
I might take a picture of what I mean tomorrow. I THINK it's the round relay that gets pulled to do that.
The transistor cannot be seen. It's on top of the blower motor housing.
This does not explain the mix motor not opening/shutting doors etc, just the blower motor not working.

ok.. thats what i was thinking.. it just seems like there is no power at all going to my logicon. let me run outside quick to confirm that none of the lights on the logicon go on and no sounds what so ever from relays or airmix motor.. BRB

Hey. Try this. Find the relay on the blower housing that has the four wires as in the jpg attached. Pull the relay out and set it aside. Then jumper the Red/Yellow to the Blue/White and see if the blower works when the slider is put to the right.
Also, try downloading the series five wiring and look at series five dwgs. They seem clearer.
I THINK it's the round relay that you find those wires mentioned above. From MEMORY so I'm not that sure.
I might have made a slight mistake on my other post. I'll correct it later.

alright i just went out and checked and some of the lights actually do work, all the face/feet icons across the top work and the 2 little arrows on the temp and fan speed sliders light up but the blue/red temp indicator section doesn't light up and when you push the top buttons the little squares that show which button is pushed in don't light up. there are no sounds at all when you move the sliders and push any of the buttons.... hailers do you know what the (heater relay) actualy does or (relay's power too)?

See my post above with the jpgs. Also go here: http://www.rotorwiki.com/index.php/S...cal_Schematics

And look at the series five diagrams for the heater. They make a little more sense. Also try the jumper job I suggested in the post above.
