why does my voltage rise with my speed

Sometimes when im driving and i just press the throttle down my voltage rises to 16. then my oil pressure rises slowly too. after a while it will usually drop. i think its my alternator but im not sure. any help would be appreciated

You had better check that with an actual multi meter. Your gauges can be somewhat innacurate.

Generally it will rise a little because the alternator speeds up as the engine speeds up. If you're seeing like 12-13v at idle and 15v+ at speed its probably your voltage regulator on the alternator. It should generally never read above 14.8volts. Oil pressure should rise with speed, thats normal. Should be 30-45 at idle, and around 60psi at 3000 rpms. If you're seeing like 45psi at 3k it might be a bad thermal pellet.

the voltage is suppose to increase, the more throttle you give the faster the alternator will spin, therefore generating more voltage.

same theory with oil pressure.

Not necessarily,

The alternator has a regulator that SHOULD keep the voltage from rising above something like 15 volts or so.

hence my thought of a possibly bunk voltage regulator
