Why do you only hook up a CDI to the trailing plugs...

Why do you only hook up a CDI to the trailing plugs...

.....and not both leading and trailing? Which is a better MSD box to buy? 6al, dis plus, etc, etc.

you've got it the other way round. You wanna hook up a CDI to the plug supplying the leading spark.

Since over 90% of the mixture is ignited by the leading plugs, there'd be minimal gain for the extra hassle. The trailing plugs are really only there to ignite the left-over mixture not ignited due to the long skinny shape of the combustion chamber, helping fuel economy and emissions.

Thanx NZ, so when I install an MSD or HI-6, will I notice any gainz in performance and gas mileage?

Honestly, your gains will be minimal. All I discovered is a smoother idle and slightly better throttle response. IMO for the price for the stock ignition system is excellent more than up to task. If your car is highly modified or pushing higher than normal boost levels then I guess I can justify all that money for one.
