Why do I have to run spacers to run fd rims

Why do I have to run spacers to run fd rims

I understand that I have to run these spacers to use stock
fd rims on a fc??
Where would someone obtain these spacers?
Discreption of offset needed?
Also the lugnuts would then be fd's or remain fc's?
Genral price for the spacers?

They probably run wide towards the inside, which might cause the tires to rub on the springs. Dunno how much spacing you need, but spacers can be found relatively easily online. Just search for em. You'd use your stock lugnuts. Just be careful that they hold onto the thread enough with the spacers on. You wouldn't want them shearing off the thread.

You need 10mm spacers to put them on. You can get them at any tire/wheel shop in your area. I bought mine for $2.50 a piece. You can use your stock lug nuts or whatever you already have on there. Don't use anymore more than 10mm either. Even that's cutting it close with the stock wheel studs.

Spacers get the job done but in the long run put stress on your car. If a tire/rim combination forces you to run spacers on your car then in my opinion it is not worth it.

Should you choose to run spacers you can get them off ebay or most tire shops for just a couple bucks a piece.

Because fd rims and fc's don't like each other and refuse to sit next to one another. The spacer makes everyone happy and assures you don't need to pull over and put the smack down on those rowdy kids.

I had to use 20mm(bolt on powered by max spacers) on the front to clean everything. With the camber bolts to put ~ -2* of camber in front I had to up to the 25mm spacers I had on the rear to clear the sway bar. This is Bridgestone Potenza RE-01r tires on the front at 225-50-r16.

This was the clearance between the tire and strut with 20mm spacers:


Run 10mm spacers at your own risk.

I also would get 2 25mm spacers for the rear, otherwise your wheel fitment looks pretty silly.

you have to make sure you are getting hub centric spacers, what spacers are you guys getting for $2.50 or from your local tire stores? Your local tire stores had the correct spacers sitting on thier shelf?

25mm you need longer studs, or you need the bolt on spacers that give you a second set of studs

Most of these cheap spacers are universial. Even if they are not you just tell them your bolt pattern and the size you want.

I used cheap 8mm ebay spacers for about a year on my NA S4 with no problems what so ever. Got them for $12 shipped.

those really are not the right spacers, I originally ran a set like that until my hub centric ones came, the wheel had a shimmy in it because think about it- you are relying on the studs to center the spacer, and there is a slot for the studs so the spacer can be sitting a little off to one side.

You really shoud spend the $50 and get the proper hub centric spacers.

^^ I'm afraid I don't agree.

I ran my cheap ebay specials with absolutely no problems at the recommendation of a Rotary performance shop owner. He did give me one warning though: that it is never a good idea to run wheel spacers for doing ANY PERFORMANCE DRIVING. Use them only to get back on the road or for a show car to fit some spazy rims.

If you have to use spacers to run FD rims then screw FD rims. Get a set of Mustang GT rims and forget the spacers. If you have to run FD rims then get the cheap spacers and save your fifty bucks towards a set of rims that will fit without spacers.
