I live in the NW (rains 300 days of the year) and why in the hell cant a N/A owner buy a test pipe thats not crome or polished? Im not looking for something thats going to live 200 years beyond myself damn it ... lol
Not sure where I got the pic but me and MANY others would love a simple setup like this.
So what gives? Why cant I just buy this?

Not much on the why but thanks? I know it a $25,000 (anywhere in the US) fine now for a shop that removes a cat without replacing it but most shops are too afraid to even touch something like that now.

Not in Oregon.. You can take your car to a shop and have whatever you want built for it. Just don't come in there all nervous or something. If he gives you greif say "well, I'm taking it to the track, if you'd like I can bolt my stock pipe back on. I just don't have the welder or skills to build my own pipe, thats why I'm paying you". The owner will feel comfortable that you're not a cop or some stupid kid that will get him busted. Thats what they're trying to avoid is making a fart cannon exhaust that will let all the cops know where you're comming from a mile away, and what shop did the work. Not to mention emmisions, but you only have to do that once every 2 years, depending on your area.
The shop that buit my exhaust removed everything and put an aftermaket 3" cat in place. The thing Barely passes, and would probably fail a visual if they did those here.
