Who would win in a 1/4.
Who would win in a 1/4.
2000 Honda Civic Hatchback, no VTEC.
Crank pulley, AEM intake, Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust, DC Sports short throw, AGX struts, Skunk2 coilovers, and probably some weight reduction.
my 88 SE RX7
mods listed in my signature.
anyways, long story short. I got in it with someone on my local forum. So I decided to challenge him to so one of us will eat our words.
One event at autox
another is 1/4.
I should be getting a TII soon, so I'll probably smoke him no matter what he's got.
The autox, pretty much if i get my new tires in, ill win this event, drag might be different because he's into the drag thing and I've never dragged my car before. So i dont' know whats a good launch or maybe how well im shifting. but whatever it is, I WON'T LOSE!
is there any stock honda engines that really powerful? yea, i know the irony of honda and powerful. but its pretty much my pride at stake. So I'll have to do whatever it takes to win.

you'll win
all the civic has for power upgrades is intake and exhaust. Only good for approx 5hp. stock power on that motor is 106hp at the fly, so about 111hp at the fly after those mods. Then it weighs in at around 2500lbs. You should be able to win

It's NOT the same as a spare! What happens when something happens to the sidewall? Or the rim?
The spare is ~20lbs I plan to keep.
When you say "no VTEC" do you mean it is the stock engine? He could have an LS engine in it (140hp) and not have VTEC, that could give him a decent bump in horsepower.
The non-VTEC single cams are pretty darn slow, even with the crap he has.

Well what have you run in the 1/4?
My stock 88 SE pulled a 17.
It's all dependant how how happy your motor is.
Remember that even though your stock HP levels are higher he has a MUCH newer(tends to == healthier) motor.
It's a hatch so it's failry light too.
He does only have intake and exhaust though. SO I doubt he got much out of it unless he did cams, hondatek thing,etc...
You have full exhaust and intake just like him but with that "MD Racing Fuel Computer" which I've never heard of and don't know what it does.

I don't usually partcipate in a thread like this...
But both the drag and autox will be up to the driver. Just because you have new tires dosen't mean you beat the Honda. If you don't know how to drive, you're in trouble.
As far as the 1/4 goes, it will still be up to the driver.

^^^^ agreed, auto-x is far more dependent on the driver tho.
there is NO point in trying to handicap an autox based on mods, and a drag can only be 1/2 assed assuming the both are fairly equal drivers (as in can actualy launch and shift fast)

as far as the honda is concerned
crank pulley=nothing
intake and exuast get you nowhere with no power
i know sooo many people with hondas that are extremely slow. they spend sooo much money on those things and cant break a 15 in 1/4. is it that goofy egg hatch or the si? si is fairly quick but not fast (thers a big difference) the egg hatch is slow, so if thats what it is then you should be good as long as you can drive...

alot of cars on this board..... I for one do prefer rwd over anyother platform, but I know there are fwd cars out there that will hand my *** to me... for example an srt4 is a quick car for cheap, and even cheaper to increase performance.... also more and more honda's are pushing out 300+ hp...

Whoa, guess I should be more patient. Sorry.
