Who really know there na engines?

I need some help, I blew my engine in my 90 Gx with manual transmission ( I know that really sucks!) I have a possible cheap donor car, for an engine swap while I rebuild my engine (or at least attempt to) But the difference is the donar car is an 87 automatic, with 198km on the car, but the motor was rebuilt at 170km, and it passed emission (im in ontario), but far for a certified car(bad breaks/rust/tires). Anyone know if my clutch will mount up to this engine? What kind of mods I would need to do, and if i can swap my manual transmission into the 87 auto motor? Wiring etc... any help or direction would be greatly appriecated thanks for your time. Jay

I have to say that is a lot of work but no it wouldn't work. I mean why not just replace the breaks and replace the tires, and use your donor car to drive around until you rebuild or get your new engine. But if your going to do the rebuild yourself get a video on how to rebuild a rotary engine. Well after you watch the video, tear apart the engine and look at what you can re-use and if you can't re-use anything then just throw it away and replace the things you do need.

Yeah I already have the video, and have watched it several times, and read several rebuild threads, so i are giving myself as long as it takes to do. I jus want to put another engine in my car while i do the rebuild. the donor car would take like 1500-2000 to get on the road worth driving, and i dont wanna get involved with that, plus i dont have a lot of extra space right now. So if i could use the engine i would thats what im looking for on this thread. To see if anyone has succefully done the swap, thanks Jay

you can use the engine, however, u have alot of things against u, 1 its an AUTO , 2 its a s4 motor, and its ALOT of work

in order to use this motor in your manual car, you will have to!

tear all the intake and manifolds off,get it down to short block. take off the front cover, you will have to remove the front counter weight and flywheel/flex plate, and you will need to find a manual flywheel and counter weight off an 86-88 motor( 89+ has diff weight rotors so it would be balanced differently i belive, dont know for sure, but i belive so..)

put those on the engine, then put your 90 front cover on the motor, then install all of your 90's intake, rats ,nest electronics, and omp

basicly its ALOT of work, and you might need to find a flyhweel and counter weight from a 86-88..

it can be done tho ive seen it before!

I swapped a S4 shortblock into a S5. Took a little engineering but it ran really well. I used all the S5 externals/electronics. I had to block off the split air port on the S5 LIM, I had to remove the EGR valve and replace it with a blank-off and I had to grind a slight bit of steel on the rear iron for intake manifold clearance. I used all the emissions and passed with flying colors after replacing bad catalytic converters. The car ran really strong. In your case You will also need to remove the counterweight and flexplate from the S4 engine then replace it with the clutch assy from a S4 manual trans car. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, If you use the S5 flywheel and clutch, It'll be off balance from the rest of the engine as the S5 rotors are lighter . You might run into vibration issues if you use your clutch and flywheel.
