who makes performance coils for our cars?
i saw one on a rex a while ago in a pic and was wondering because i am going to be redoing my whole ignition system... i was thinking performance coils and high performance ignitors... and a ignition module to power them... i found the ignition module but cannot find ignitors or coil upgrades for our cars... do i just get some high performance MSD's? thanks in advance

I wouldn't jump to conclusions so fast. They can say that, but where does he back that statement up. I am not saying it is true or not, but just look at it from a more critical point of view. If you can have more power without spending the money by staying with stock, then go for it, otherwise, you may need more spark then the stock coils can offer.

It is widely agreed upon that the stock FC3S coils are very good for stock units.
A very loose indicator of coil performance is the size of the coil, and the FC3S coils are pretty damn big for stock units.
A CDI box on the leadings can offer better ignition performance.
Going beyond that is only really necessary for those shooting for over 400hp.
It gets very expensive to do so anyways.

good point RETED... i didnt figure i needed to upgrade all of it because i didnt know what hp the stock coils max out at... since its n/a i doubt ill ever get 400 ... wait I KNOW ILL NEVER GET 400 lol... guess its just a good CDI box and some maybe later some new oem coils and ignitors

mazda OEM coilpacks and ignitors are great, and last a very long time. There really is no need to improve the ignition system. Adding an ignition amplifier like the MSD unit or HKS TwinPower is useless unless you are big big power.
Every time i go to the junkyard i pick up some stock coilpacks and ignitors...very expensive to replace in the rare event that they crap out on you.
you'll get more response and regained power on your 15 year old car by installing a proper grounding system.

thanks again guys, saved me money best spent elsewhere... yes im more than likely going to go with the jacobs pro pack from rotary performance in garland... thanks again
