Question Who made this catback exhaust? <pics>

The PO told me it was HKS, but I haven't found it through google. Do you know the manufacturer? Why is there a ground strap from the exhaust to the frame? What's it worth?

No idea who made it.. All I know is that the ground strap is also on the factory exhaust.

The stock Mazda exhaust has a ground strap to the frame.

It looks like an old HKS exhaust. I had one very similar to that back on my '87 turbo in the early '90s.

I was told it was HKS and it's definitely from a few years ago. Only has a few hundred miles through it. Weighs 34.2lbs. The rust is from sitting for years after the engine lost a seal. Thanks for the confirmation.

i actually hate how most have gone towards single exit exhausts. too loud and more restrictive.

And they don't look as cool [pretty lame to have a notch out of one side but not the other..]

The short cord that goes from the exhaust to the frame is there on the factory exhaust too just like everyone said. Mazda calls it an Earth Cord and it is there as a noise/vibration suppressor.

After we purchased our ‘88TII new, I bought the HKS cat back system. It was a junk exhaust, similar to the one in the picture, but I don't recall the perforated chrome tips. I never installed the unit as Mazda bought back the ’88 and I got the ‘89TII. Actually never paid for the exhaust as it was such a poor design and poor quality, I stopped payment. The company put up no fight and didn’t want to pay the shipping to return the system and told me just to keep the exhaust, which I did and sold it for $100.
