White smoke... from clutch?

Tru ballers I went autoxing this weekend and at a hard turn I downshifted to first going about 30 mph. My clutch seeemd to have gotten stuck or somethign whiel i was gassing teh crap out of my poor fc all of a sudden i smell that signature sound of butrned clutch and saw white smoke coming from the dash... teh smell lsted about 2 hours... or so it was horrible... then right after that i dorifted one turn and the car stalled... then i strate dit back up now teh idle is kinda shakky. what hppened i didnt hear apex pop.. maybe an oil seal or coolant seal?

Obviously, you already know that your cutch is either dead, or badly worn. It sounds like you had a hydraulic failure, though. Have you checked out the master and slave cylinder? How is the shifting since then? I'm sure you know the best way to determine if you have a seal failure is with a compression test. If that's fine, you still may have popped your rear oil control ring, although I dont' think I've ever heard of it happening. I'm sure one of the more experienced guys will know more about that..

I'd start with the obvious: check your hydraulics, check compression, and most likely yank the tranny out to check out the clutch...

Let us know how you make out.

you should try rev matching, before you go into first at 20 mph you need to have probly 4000 rpms.

These are obviously farrrr above good shifting points, but it gives you an idea/// Do the math yerself, make sure you also adjust for final gearing

If you down shift, do you just let the clutch fly??? Or do you "reverse" fan it?? In other words allow the rpm to stay down until the speed bleeds off and you can let the clutch go all the way out. I usually hold some pressure on the clutch until the RPMs reach acceptable levels b4 letting the clutch fly.

I would check the hydraulic's. I replaced the clutch on my car and I still had smoke. When I replace the clutch plate it didn't look that bad. I put in a new slave cylinder and replace hose. bleed the system and the problem went away.

by hydraulics, we meant the master/slave cylinder and supporting lines.. You may want to check your tranny fluid level, also, since yo u're going to be under there anyway.. it's possible you overfilled it last time you put fluid in, and it caused a leak on the tranny side of things....

Where is the application form to become a "TRu rotary playaz"?

I just want to use the term Truballers at the office!! The other honkeys would think I'm "phat" for using such a term. right now they just think I'm fat.

In the meeting room discussing market penetration and I pop off "now, you truballers will understand this concept of product identification......." Ok maybe not at the office.

At the engineering meetings: "Thanks to the Tru Ballers Tim and Seth, we've managed to cut down the scrap on board A03023 by nearly 34%!"

maybe not...
