White/Silver Gauge Faces (88-89)

Just trying to see if there is any interest in them, if I make a number of these price range would be $50-80 for the set.

Please take a look at the original post, link:

Thanks all and I hope to hear from you.

Starting with NA and it is my understanding that the turbo is the same layout except boost gauge in place of one of the NA gauges (volts maybe?)

Then if I can get my hands on the different clusters post-88 seems perfectly feasible.

Looks cool-I would be interested in a set (88 non turbo) if they come out nice.

And to answer your original question, I would prefer white.

Here's a lighted picture of the neon face (just to give you an idea of what it looks like unlit) I did. If anyone has seen the neon cluster before you'll notice the tach is in the center here.. I managed to rewire the cluster (who wants a speedometer bigger than the tach anyways??) to compensate. Anyway, I'm getting started on the 7 face and not sure about font, I really like this one below though.

With any luck I'll have you guys a pic of a rx-7 prototype by next week. Keep an eye open.

Just a thought... you could take a scan of a aftermarket tach and resize it for the tach on the cluster. That way the rpms could go up to 10krpms. That is what I would like. And silver agian

They are not silkscreened, but do replace the factory faces.

As far as someone talking about extending the range of the RPM.. that's a little trickier because I'd have to change the logic inside the cluster, which I'm not really fond of that idea The neon cluster was very straight forward, and I didn't have to play with/change any signals really, just redirect them.

Does anyone know if the tach is linear above 8k? Like, if Neo were to simply continue PAST where 8k is, onto 10k.. Granted, it would look a lil funny, being off balance, but I don't see why it wouldn't work... Not that many of us really spin up that high, or really need to... or do it often enough that we need the tach to register it.

Tho... There's really nothing stopping one from moving the 0 rpm mark down a bit... hmm.. I wonder how it would look with 0 rpm's bottom dead centre (6:00).. Then it could span 10k and only end up at like 3:00 or 4:00.. hmmm!

I've redone my 85 faces and extended the range of the RPM up to 9. Not hard at all, the gauge is linear so it was an easy add on.

Why doesn't light come through the face?

I'm interested in either silver or white. How do you handle the shift light and the high beam light?
Any chance of orange letters to compliment the existing interior?

YES!

I really want one, maybe with an 8,000 RPM redline - the other NA FC guy I know will definitely take one too.

Alright guys here's a picture of the prototype (86-88 NA) You'll notice I have no high beam indicator--I was just in a hurry and forgot to put it in. Also some of the numbers look a little jagged or are missing inner parts. Also, to answer someone else's question-- No shift up light, my understand is that more people are annoyed by it than anything else.

I'll let you in a little--the top layer is vinyl, and I was having some problems with the cutter so I should have cleaner results in the future. I know a lot of people have negative feelings toward vinyl, but it's great stuff in my opinion. These faces also sport a rigid base just like the stock faces (it's slightly thinner)

Since I put these together myself the process is a little slow (unless I can find someone to help me), if I sell them it most likely will be in groups of 10 or 20. I can't determine the price yet but I'm narrowing down to the $60-70 range. I want to make them affordable yet worth my time and equipment.

Also, I've accomodated for 9000rpm. There's no 'redline' on this prototype set, but it's not a big problem to make xxxx rpm-9000rpm in red lettering (which will also light up red)

These will be installed in an actual cluster this weekend, at which point I can get in-car shots as well as night shots (I think I'm going to block off some of the lighting in order to not have the gauges illuminated from the front). The blue lit numbers should be sweet

Oh and one last thing, I have been presented with the idea of putting a thin outline of a rotor in the center of the tachometer face. What do you guys think? It too of course would be lit.

i think that a rotor outline would be awesome it would look totally customized to the rx7.
