from what i understand syncros have noting to do with how the gears perform once they have matched speeds and intermeshed. syncros allow the gears to match the input shaft (i think) speed before they actually make contact. worn syncros produce grinding when changing gears rapidly, but you can get around using them too much by rev matching. i don't know what to tell you, but i bet 20 dollars someone tells you to put in mt90 redline, as it's the cure all for all tranny problems on this forum.

edit: i'd check your fluid level though

im gonna go and check out my tranny fluid tomorrow.....I AM NEW TO THE WHOLE ROTOR COMMUNITY......i am a former piston loving acura integra lover.....but thanks to my brother-in-law and $3K, i have been "shown the light" of the possibilities of the rotor.....anyways.....there is no transmission dipstick that i can find anywhere on or near my tranny....how do i check the level beside taking it to a mechanic to check and drain?

check it yourself, jack it up, take out the fill plug and put your finger in and if it's at the level of the hole, it's fine, if you can't fell it, it's low. It's probably a good idea to drain it and fill with redline mt-90 though, it's so good. Like the guy said above.

There's a slightly different formulation for the diff that comes with the limited slip additive... but then again the 89 GTU didn't have a limited slip I don't think.

It is a synthetic gear oil. I used Redline 75W-90 with the friction modifier for for the diff in my TII, but they make one without it as well (75W-90NS). This is has a GL-5 rating versus the GL-4 for the MT-90.

I am using MT-90 in my transmission and 75W-90 in my diff and no complaints at all so far. Reduced noise and easier shifting when I switched, but I didn't have any whirring or weird noises though.

i took my car to the tranny guys to make sure all things are ok and that there are no Gremlins running around in there..... what happened was, my tranny has a little little little very little bit of metal shavings at the drain bolt, but then they listened to it while she was up in the air.....it sounds like the noise is coming from the rear end, but they also said that my driveshaft and u-joints might be going bad or already are......then when i got home.....another problem......i found my car leaking oil from BEHIND those 4 little fuel lines on the front left (facing car) of the engine....it looks like the guys that rebuilt the engine used silicone to seal instead of a gasket.....any ideas on what gasket is it (its not the seal that has the little o-ring that feeds oil to the rotors...the 4 gas line thing..) and how much i can have it replaced for???? thanks guys....im not yet knowledged in rotors yet....still being winged from the integra.

Just do a simple fluid change, just some basic 80-90W fluid, chances are a bearing is going out so you probrably dont have long left on that transmission, dont do the readline stuff because it'll be like dumping gold into a trashcan.

The way that you explain how it makes the noise when you let off the gas kind of sounds like the rear differential. Mine whines a bit at high speeds too, dunno if that's normal or not. Doesnt seem to drive any differently. I hear that you can adjust something in the diff so to keep that from happening.. I believe it's the gear backlash.. can anyone else chime in on this?
