Whiney fuel pump!

So it seems my fuel pump has started making a lot of noise...

Does that mean it's going to die or something?

The noise increases with the RPMs.

The car seems to be running a little rougher than usual...

I did install my windshield washer today, though... hurray.

Is it an aftermarket pump, with high pressure lph? Mine is a Walbro and its pretty noisey. If you can hear it. It's working. Fuel pumps dont realy brake down easy, if that makes you feel better..

No, it's a stock pump, but it never made any noticable noise when the car was running.

Now it sounds almost like a turbo spooling up...

are u sure its the pump?? if it is, since its stock then its going bad. but if its not your pump then it might be your throw-out bearing going bad.

It's a 20year old car with the original pump. Spend an extra $100.00 bulks, and get it over with. One thing you dont want to do in an engine is lean it out. Rebuild is gonna cost you over $2000.00 its all up to you though?

The throw-out bearing is already bad (lots of noise when the clutch is in)...lol.

This noise is coming from the hatch area, though.

Geh... turns out it was one of the rear speakers... I think it's picking up some electrical noise from the pump, but only when the headunit is off (usually I leave it on). That would explain why it changes when I rev it.
