While taking my UIM off, I found some interesting things
I was taking off my UIM off my 86 NA yesterday to get to my ground to clean it up. I figured I mine as well check all my hoses and such while im at it. Thats when I noticed what seems to be a screw in a vacuum line, I believe EGR solonoid but correct me if im wrong. I just want to know why the previous owner may have put that in there and what negative effects it may have. Car ran great with it in all the time, but why block it??? I would show you a pic but the file size is too much so I will explain as best i can..... second solinoid on the right of the CAS when looking at the car from drivers fender, also marked with a yellow circle.

It's possible the diaphram inside the EGR is broken as was causing a air leak messing up the idle.
I pass emissions each yr with three RX with the EGR disabled and the NOX figure is very, very, very low on each car. Nox is not a worry on RX and the EGR was removed on series five cars by Mazda.
On a RX the intake *stroke* picks up a good amount of exhaust gas from the other rotor which I guess simulates the work of a EGR valve/purpose. That's my take on it.
