I have not had good luck with JDM motors with "50k " on them or less. You just don't know what you are buying. If you can't afford to go with a short block from a reputable building like atkins or Rotary Ressurection, Then rebuild one by yourself. If your not up to that task, it is kind of a crap shoot. I bought a JDM from JDM of Miami LLC and got a junk motor and transmission from them.
Make sure that if you buy a used JDM Motor, that you buy it with a credit card that will stand behind you if they sell you junk. Also, make sure that when you buy the motor, that you are absolutley ready to install AND start it within 30 days. Most of the reputable companies that supply JDM motors will give you a 30 start guarantee. My problem was that I bought the Motor in January of 07 and did not install it until September. This was the time that it took me to basically restore the car and be ready for the engine.
By the time I put the motor in and transmission, it was too late to do anything. I started the engine and it ran for 5 minutes and threw the seals. $2000 later, I rebuilt my own engine. The transmission was also messed up and I went ahead and had it rebuilt for $1500.00.
I sent an e-mail and left a message with JDM of Miami and no response.
BE VERY VERY Careful!!!
