Where to get used parts?

Okay, my 87 N/A is in some serrious need. The engine smoked like a frieght train the last time it was cranked (a year ago.) It ran and idled and disn't smoke bad until you reeved it. Then it would make enough smoke to put the forrestry service on alert. I bought it for $100. The tranny is shot. It shifts like a 61 cab over Ford tanker truck.

I don't have alot of cash. So where do you guys hunt for used parts. The local junk yards are kinda slim on REX's around here (Hickory, NC). I check car-parts.com weekly. Do you guys have any other places you use. I don't have the bread for a new (rebuilt) motor. So I am left with trying to find a J-spec or something out of a junk yard.

I got a couple items I had to have from Banzitoyota. But now I got to get this thing actually moving. Any suggestion?

I get parts from a guy on www.thepartstrader.com. His name is Chris Sanders and I have never had any problems dealing with him.

HALO, you are about 1 1/2 hours from RX7 bone yard heaven! I lived in High Point until about 4 months ago. There is a yard in Winston Salem that had 24 second gens and 17 first gens the weekend I left. Nearly all the second gens had engines but most of the interiors had been gone through. However, there was still much to be had there.

It is a You Pull yard and the folks are generally very reasonable and do not really understand the values of most of the stuff on the 7's. Pricing was very reasonable. They are open Saturday's 8:00 AM to noon.

109 U-Pull-It
3459 Thomasville Road
Winston Salem, NC 27107

From your direction take 42 east past Winston Salem. The exit will say Rt. 109. Right at the exit on to 109 about 2/10 of a mile. The yard will be on your left just after the gas station.

See what you can get there before spending bucks elsewhare. They refund non-working parts if returned within a reasonable period of time. Happy hunting.

Note: I am thinking of driving down just to spend a day or two pillaging that yard.

Hey guys, thanks.

I have been considering Hypntyz7 for a rebuild since I got on this site. Just not too sure if I can allocate enough funds for the rebuild plus having to buy a tranny. I will check out the yard down in Winston.

Just not sure which way I want to go. The rebuild is the wise choice but finances may not allow it. But I deffinetly appreciate all the info and offers.

thanks

The heat was affecting my mind. I knew you had the TII set up but you said you were shipping it. PM me with a price. I may consider another run down. If I come down I will come after the hubs, too.

Hopefully I can make friends at the loan office to get this sucker going.

Try giving ALL the local bodyshops a call. I did and got a GTU for 100 bucks. BAd thing is she was seized like a rock, so I'm i the middle of a rebuild/port/mod the crap out of. But, try the calls, and if they dont have any now, ask them to call you if the get one in totaled, or like me, an off the street tow w/out a title.
