Where to find replacement Pulsation Dampener.

Just had the PD go out on my NA S4, where is the best place to look for a stock replacement?

The cheaper route would be to put a banjo bolt in there instead, but if u really wandt a fpd, I'm pretty sure mazdatrix has it.

OH

Yeah, I don't entirely trust the banjo bolt solution.

You could also try Mazdatrix for a replacement, but I remember reading that the replacements don't last long.

I did the banjo bolt method a couple summers ago. Its comforting to know that I wont have any fuel leaks. I would much rather replace injectors or a fuel pump than a hood, wiring harness, and other expensive bits.

I paid a mechanic $300 and haven't had to worry about it since. I think the part itself is around $100. Just go to a dealer.

IMO removing a $100 part that lasts 100,000 miles is just silly. Replace it every 100k whether it needs it or not and you won't have to worry. This is a part that's in every fuel injected car for a reason: it dampens fluctuations in fuel delivery. Assuming you don't hurt the fuel system further you can get away with it. But your gas mileage is a little worse and your safety net against detonation is a little thinner. And for what? Saving your engine from fire? No, a replacement does PD that. For $100-$300 a decade, which you'll probably lose in mpg anyway.

Honestly replacing it with either part is better than nothing. Here is some excellent reading material:
