ummmm... NO!!!! DO NOT USE AN AUTO PARTS STORE THERMOSTAT. Yes, the Mazda one is more expensive... it's worth it.

Yeah, how to save money EXCEPT THE THERMOSTAT PART. Those are MORE expensive (they will cost you a motor!)

It never comes close to running hot now. exceopt the other week when I blew a water hose

there all the same man all thermostats are made from the same metals and same material, its like buying nike shoes compared to knock-offs, your feet wont notice a difference as long as they get u from A to B. I have used Stant forever and have Never ever had a problem...

Certain factory mazda items are better but not the thermostats.

Sorry.

Try Trussville Mazda: http://www.trussvillemazda.com//parts.html

They typically sell everything for 20% less than a regular dealer. I ordered inner & outer shift boots from them and was very pleased with their prices, service, and immediate parts availability.

Hey canibus,

I took an ACV and EGR gasket to the local Vo-Tech and they made me some awesome block-off plates out of aluminum stock.
Took 'em home and polished 'em, they look great.

Same here, buy the mazda thermostat. DOn't go for the cheap replacement on these motors.

Every thought with going with the gasket kit, is like 100 dollars, has every gasket and o rigns you need. Might as well since you are changing everything else.

What's the obsession with Mazda thermostats??

I am using a aftermarket 180degree thermostat and it works perfectly. Has been for going on 7000+miles now.

I dont mean to go off on a rant here, but sometimes you guys amaze me. Like BlackTurbo2, you got all that money in mods, but your willing to use pepboys parts for the water jacket o-rings. Crazy, why bother saving a buck for part thats a huge pain to change if it fails and could cost you a motor? Same thing with the thermostats. The mazda ones work. In the month, i think we've fixed at least 3 rx7's that had overheating problems because they used an aftermarket thermostat. Why take the chance? You can make your cars reliable, and run good but you have to take the time and do things right.
