Question Where is it???

I have a 1990 convertible just installed rebuilt motor from mazda I am trying to set the timing and I cannot find the initial set wire or jumper . does anyone know where it is? What color it is. Anything!!!!!

Up by the battery. You just ground the one on 89-91 casrs; on 86-8s, there are 2 terminals that you connect with a wire.

SO, on your car, there is one terminal by itself up by the battery/lead coil that you jumper to ground. You should do this with the car off, then start it up. I assume you are checking for engine codes(done by turning ignition on but not start) or setting idle adjustments(done while running)?

found the one green wire near battrey have not checked the codes as of yet.I think now that I have the cas in wrong place may need to move it one step.when I put timing dead on engine pings if I move it forward or faster I lose my timing marks but engine runs better

Hey found one problem .Had spark plug wires on wrong corrected that problem ,now idle still too high. anyone know how to setup idle w/cruise control
